Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Paul commanded the church at Colosse to let the word of Christ dwell in them richly. He didn’t say ‘pray’, he said ‘let’. This means they had to do something for this to happen. That something is meditating on God’s word. We know this because the Greek word (𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢ó𝐬) used for ‘richly’ in this verse, is also used in 𝟐 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏:𝟏𝟏 which says, ‘for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’, where it is translated ‘abundantly’. Paul, therefore, commanded the Colossians to let the word of God dwell in them abundantly. Since it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks, when God’s word dwells richly or abundantly in our heart (our spirit), it will manifest through our mouth (our speech). This is what David was saying in 𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟒𝟗:𝟑, ‘My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall give understanding’ Which means that when we meditate on God’s word, it gives & fills us with understanding and, understanding in the heart is manifested as wisdom when we speak. This is why Paul said let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom. It also causes us to be effective teachers & admonishers and makes us break forth in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: Father God, I will let the word of Christ to dwell richly in me, in Jesus’ name
